    I am not a cook but I tried Hannah’s Shrimp Patties and I love it. I live in Hawaii so I don’t have the luxury of cooking with family. My patties came out round and fluffy just like Hannah said they would.

    • Not currently, but it’s pretty simple to make. Thinly slice your deer meat (cut off any fat and discard), then squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice over it. Add thinly sliced onions, and salt and hot pepper to taste. Let the meat “cook” in the lemon mixture. Serve with hot steamed rice or corn titiyas and enjoy!

    I love your page. I’m not from Guam but I ate at my next door neighbors house on a regular basis for 18 years and they were from Guam. Love the food but I was a kid and I don’t remember all of the names of the food. Does Poto (sometimes they would add blueberries) sound like a sticky muffin from Guam. They also made real THICK tortillas but I don’t remember the name of them either. Oh and something that looked like pretzels:)

      Potu is a sweet, steamed rice cake. I have a recipe for it here on my blog.

      The thick tortillas were most likely flour titiyas. Look under my recipe for ‘Chicken Kelaguen’ — I have a recipe for sweet titiyas along with the kelaguen.

      Pretzels — were they a crumbly cookie? If so, that’s rosketti. I have a recipe for that as well.

      Give them a try and let me know if they’re the dishes you remember.
